What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts.
Essential oils are the aromatic liquids found within shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, resins, and seeds. Young Living creates only 100% pure essential oil that never expire. They are a highly concentrated form of the herb or plant and contain no fillers. Essential oils support the mind, body, and spirit.
Oils are nothing new. They are the oldest known form of personal care, dating back to 4500 BC, and are referenced frequently throughout Chinese, Eastern, & Biblical history.
Essential oils are extracted by resin tapping directly from a tree (as with Frankincense), cold pressing citrus rinds (as with Orange), and one of the most common ways they can be extracted is through the careful process of steam distillation of a plant’s root, stem, leaves, or flower petals (such as Rose or Lavender oil).
Each oil needs to be distilled for a specific amount of time (anywhere from 2 -48 hours) at a specific temperature. If the distillation time under pressure is off, or the temperature is off by even 10 degrees, 90% of the therapeutic benefits of the oil can be lost — quality matters.
Because of how they’re extracted & their concentrated nature, the benefits found in essential oils are significantly more powerful than the plants they come from. For example, it takes 25 lemons to make one 5ml bottle of Lemon Vitality, and 27 square feet of Lavender plants to make one 15 ml bottle of Lavender. Not only do they have unique scents reflective of their plant of origin, they also help support the systems of the body. As part of a daily regimen, oils can help you achieve your goal of whole-body health.
